Roosevelt Principal
Meet the Principal:
It is a pleasure and honor to introduce your new principal, Karen Davis. She has had the pleasure of knowing and working with Mrs. LoCicero for many years, and looks forward to attempting to fill her very awesome leadership shoes!
Mrs. Davis has been married for 24 years to Mr. Scott
Davis. They have two children in their
20s, Sarah and Carl, who both received the benefit of a fine Roosevelt
education many years ago when they lived in the neighborhood.
Mrs. Davis has a teacher’s license in both regular ed
(grades 1-8) and special ed (grades K-12). She also holds administrator licenses as Principal, Director of
Curriculum, and Director of Special Education and Pupil Services. She is a doctoral student at UW-Milwaukee, and is just a few classes shy of
holding her Superintendent’s license.
She has spent her career working for Kenosha Unified – first
as a special education teacher at McKinley and Lincoln (then) Jr. High schools
and Vernon Elementary School. She also worked as an itinerant teacher at Lance, Washington, Bullen, Bose, and
Bradford. In the mid-90’s she became a
Program Support Teacher for special education, then was named Interim
Coordinator of Special Ed in 1996. In
1998, Mrs. Davis became Coordinator of K-8 Instruction, then Director of School
Leadership. In 2004, she applied for
and was named Coordinator of Human Resources. At the time, she wanted to obtain experience in that area of educational
administration, including labor relations. However, she found that she truly missed the students – the
instructional heart of the school “business” -- and when Roosevelt became open
due to Mrs. LoCicero’s retirement, Mrs. Davis jumped at the chance to interview
for the principal position.
So far, Mrs. Davis is loving each experience and task that
has come her way since being on staff starting July 5th. The staff members have already impressed her
with their dedication, and the students and parents have been wonderful and
welcoming. Mrs. Davis states that, “I
truly look forward to meeting each of you and your terrific children and
anticipate a successful and rewarding year for all of us!”
She invites you to
stop in or call anytime if you have a question or concern. Together, we will
continue Roosevelt’s proud tradition of excellence!
